The Leschi Market is expanding its beer selection to include some exceptional Belgian, German and Slovak beers along with many excellent domestic craft beers.

Did you know that outstanding beers can do amazing things with food, and go many places where wine doesn't? Can you imagine what the right beer can do for Mexican, Indian, Thai, Japanese, or Cajun food, or your barbeque? Can you imagine going to a fine restaurant in Belgium and not seeing the diners enjoying an excellent Belgian beer with their mussels and frites?

Beer has the bitterness to cut through fat, carbonation to refresh the palate, caramelized flavors to match those in your food, and sweetness to soften a spicy dish. Whatever your food: pate, sushi, sausage, or a rich chocolate dessert; there is a perfect beer from somewhere in the world (or a tremendous domestic craft beer that follows a traditional world style) that will be a perfect match for your meal. When paired with food, an exceptional beer will add excitement to your taste buds and make your meal sing. The exciting array of great beers newly available at the Leschi Market will open a whole new world of fantastic flavors for your palate and add to your dining experience.

Our goal at the Leschi Market is to enhance and expand your beverage and dining enjoyment by providing you with our carefully selected groceries, produce, and beverages whether you are preparing a complex, refined dinner or a quick and simple meal.

You will find that a number of the exceptional imported beers we are adding to our line-up are considerably more expensive than mass marketed beers. You will find in beer, as in wine, the complexity, depth of distinctive flavors, and finish generally increase as the price increases. You will also find that the very best beers in the world remain an affordable luxury.

We invite you to try some of the exceptional beers added to our shelves. We are offering you the opportunity to try six different Belgian beer styles from one of the best Belgian brewers, and my favorite Belgian brewery, Brouwerij St. Bernard. Suggested serving, cellar and serving temperatures as well as suggested food and cheese pairings and glass style for each of the six beers are provided. One note of caution, please note the alcohol content on some of these beers. They will taste smooth and low in alcohol because of their quality, but the actual content rises to a surprising 10.5% in some.

In addition to the specially selected six style package from Brouwerij St. Bernard (you will note that some bottles carry the name St. Bernardus), we have also listed a number of other great imported beers recently added to our shelves along with their serving suggestions.
